Running the Monsal Trail
In 2012 I plan to run the entire route of the Monsal Trail. Starting in Bakewell, running to the end at Blackwell and then back! A total of about 18 miles. If you wish to track my training you can see my log by clicking on the picture to the right. This is the trail last winter, tricky to run on but good fun. This will be in preparation for our Coast to Coast walk starting 23rd July 2012.
We will be raising money for Everyman charity.
More details to follow.
2011
(Sadly this didn't happen, we hope to do it one day)
We are still in the planning stage at the moment but this years big charity event will be a 4 day 'North to South' bike ride.
Starting at Gretna and finishing some where on the south coast. We plan a support vehicle and overnight stays at friends or relatives. Each day we will cover about 100 miles. There is debate as to whether it should be 'South to North' instead. I guess it will depend on the prevailing winds, although I would prefer to get the hills out of the way sooner rather than later. If anyone has a 'Winniebago' they would like to donate for the duration we would take great care of it!!
Further details will follow.
In preparation this winter I have taken up running for the first time. The purpose is to help Mark prepare for his London Marathon, plus I really need to stay in some sort of shape for our 'North to South'.

It nearly didn't happen! Sat there looking confused, the 2009 charity event didn't have any direction. Then we bought the boys a road bike each they loved it and wanted a challenge. In 2006 I did the Cat & Fiddle Challenge, a 88km ride from Stoke taking in the 7 mile climb up the Cat & Fiddle road to Buxton. In 2009 all three of us will take up the challenge.
If you would like to donate please see my Just Giving page.

Over the past few years I've been involved in several fund-raisers for charities. The last 2 have involved me, a bike and some friends!
In September 2008 Mark Street, Jonny Stokes and myself planned and finished a 190km Coast-2-Coast ride from Workington in the Lake District to Sunderland. We did this over 3 days and even though we enjoyed the experience, I had hoped for better weather.

In 2006 I also did a 80km ride which passed "the Cat and Fiddle" pub on the Cheshire/Derbyshire border and raised £600 for the Sheffields Children's hospital. Cat and Fiddle
